All Time Low are one of the chronologically closer bands to Car Chase City. Whilst other bands would provide an influence for Car Chase City in their style and sound, it is with the recent revolution of pop punk that the band’s chances of mainstream success is heightened, allowing us to see how the new resurgence of popularity has influenced other pop punk artists.
We will aim to follow some of the newer artists of the genre to fit in with the modern videos of pop punk.
All Time Low were formed in the Baltimore Suburbs in 2003 and took inspiration from bands such as New Found Glory and Blink 182.
they have hit recent mainstream success with the pop punk revolution of 2013 and continue to draw in a wider audience.
1. Weightless
- Fun, creative edits and effects.
- Humorous storyline to reflect the meaning of the song.
- Close up of the band members in the storyline.
- Live performance of the band at the setting of the storyline.
- A crowd in a room as the band plays with close ups of the main characters of the audience.
- Creative us of camera movements, slow and fast motion to create disorientation.
- Close ups of the band members playing their instruments.
- Black and white clothing with an injection of bright colour to embrace the pop side of the genre.
- Slight camera rotations to provide interesting viewing.
- Comical approach to a more serious underlying message i.e comical use of writing to reveal brutal truths regarding the nature of a concert as a stance against the mainstream music industry.
- Short, sharp camera movements an frequent cuts complete with zooms and panning often, to keep the video fun and interesting.
The use of a crowd listening to the band perform is something we would be interested in using. We want to create a party scene with a focus on a particular storyline that holds more of a similarity to older pop punk videos whilst focusing no the influence of modern pop punk when filming the band playing. We therefore wish to fuse modern pop punk music videos with older music videos, taking inspiration from 21 guns by Greenday and possibly including a storyline based on a couple. Using effects and clever camera movements with darker clothing, makeup and setting will hopefully fuse the older pop punk video with the modern version, reflecting the fun, up-beat rhythm of the song masking the darker, serious message of the lyrics.
